Gail in Italy

About

Born into a family of artists, Gail began classes at the Cleveland Museum of Art at the tender age of six. She completed her studies with a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art. During that time, she spent summers in Provincetown where she met many of the leading artists of the ‘60s. With its unique personality and lifestyle, Provincetown was fertile ground for an aspiring artist. Provincetown continues to inspire Gail to this day.

Inspiration

Gail has always followed the inspiration she finds in the world around her. Be it the subject or the materials, her artistic curiosity motivates her to explore the source. This experiential learning leads Gail to discover new places as well. For over twenty years she has spent time on the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy where she offers cultural and painting workshops.

Special Project

Gail recently collaborated on a book with fellow artist Amy Heller as an homage to their shared source of inspiration. The book, called “Lost & Found: Time, Tide, and Treasures” (Schiffer Publishing, 2020), focuses on the beachcombing experience of six Provincetown artists and its influence on their work. Book events are planned for 2021.
